Mission
The Rebuild Sri Lanka (RBSL) Trust is a non-political private sector initiative committed to facilitating emergency relief, medium-term rehabilitation and long-term redevelopment of tsunami affected areas through collaboration and co-operation.
The Trust is supported by a network of local and international partners and utilizes the resources and expertise of its committed teams for the betterment of Sri Lanka.
Our motivation is to ultimately improve the lives of Sri Lankans affected by the 26th December 2004 natural disaster and all Trust members are committed to this humanitarian effort.
Inauguration
The Rebuild Sri Lanka (RBSL) team informally commenced operations on the 26th of December 2004 when a group of concerned business professionals combined their resources to provide emergency relief to tsunami survivors on the island. A very personal effort was undertaken to distribute aid to remote locations where survivors were in desperate need. RBSL Trustees
The Rebuild Sri Lanka Trust relies on the leadership provided by its Trustees and facilitated by the expertise of it operatives. The Rebuild Sri Lanka Trustees monitor and regulate activities and procedures in the provision of relief by RBSL operatives and assignment of specific teams. Each team is supervised by one or more Trustees, their primary objective to safeguard the interests of donors and advise on planning. more...
RBSL Commitments
- RBSL will utilise the personal resources of its team toward the rehabilitation of displaced families and reconstruction of livelihoods for displaced tsunami survivors.
- RBSL will provide emergency relief, supplies and immediate assistance to those in need of basic food, sanitation and shelter. Non-food related emergency relief needs are to be supplied or coordinated with partner organisations after a comprehensive need assessment has been made of the appointed area.
- RBSL will implement income-generation projects and medium term strategies in affected areas to aid in the restoration of homes and livelihoods for displaced persons.
- The RBSL team will travel and provide all support services at their own expense so that donations received will be utilised entirely and directly toward relief and rehabilitation.
- The RBSL Trustees will monitor, administer and regulate RBSL project practices to safeguard the interests of donors.
- RBSL will undertake medium/large scale fund raising initiatives to promote awareness of its projects and relief process follow-through.
