PROJECTS IN JAFFNA
- Bicycles – 100
- Outboard Motors – 2
- Water Pumps for agriculture – 10
- Cement block making machines - 14
- Items for schools – 40 footballs, 40 cricket bats & wicket sets, 20 volleyballs & net sets, 50 Badminton nets, 30 Carom sets, 80 tennis balls
- Shoes for school children – 640 pairs
The bicycles and water pumps were funded by the Suntel Relief Trust Fund. The sports equipment for the schools was funded by Mr. David Spencer. Outboard Motors were funded by Shipwrecked Mariners Society.
PROJECTS IN TRINCOMALEE
- Sewing machines – 15
- Block making machines – 3
- Nursery and Library in Nilaweli – This project will be conducted using local resources (block making machines, carpentry, etc). The building cost for each building is estimated to be Rs300,000. RBSL is keen to find and support projects that enable sustainable income for local livelihoods that have been reinstated.
- Electricity supply lines to 200 homes in Nilaweli – Rs100,000. RBSL along with several other NGOs has contributed to help complete this project.
PROJECTS IN AMPARA
The items listed below were funded by Suntel Relief Trust. The selection of beneficiaries and the distribution of items in Akkaraipattu were carried out by the Disaster Management Committee of the Special Task Force.
